Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
